Dunvegan South Hill Landslide
The Municipal District of Spirit River No. 133 has received Notification from Alberta Transportation advising of the temporary closure of the south bound climbing lane on Hwy 2 at km 16.475 to km 18.475 (Dunvegan Valley) due to an active land slide. Regulatory speed reduction signs are posted. This temporary lane closure area and end date can be changed depending on the progression of the land slide. See map attached. Questions regarding the closure can be directed to Alberta Transportation 780-538-6174.
FIRE ADVISORY
MARCH 26 UPDATE
Due to the drought conditions in this region, areas of exposed cured
fuels pose a significant fire risk. As a result, a Fire Advisory will take
effect for the areas within the borders of the MD #133 of Spirit River,
Effective March 26th , 2024.
Please exercise caution when conducting activities in dry cured fuels.
Open burning of heavy fuels is not permitted currently.
Fire notifications will not be granted until conditions improve.
Safe Campfires are allowed.
Please make sure your campfire is completely extinguished when you
leave it (Soak It, Stir It, Soak It Again).
Clear debris from hot spots on your Off-Highway Vehicle (Knock It Off).
This Advisory will remain in place until conditions improve.
If the fire hazard continues to increase, further restrictions may be
implemented.
