The MD of Spirit River Council believes strongly in being open and transparent with its ratepayers, and welcomes engagement.

Council was an early adaptor to having their council meetings stream live giving access to anyone, anywhere.

Our Councillors also have their contact information proudly displayed on the MD of Spirit River’s website – Council & Staff want to hear from YOU!

To further keep the lines of communication open and ratepayers informed, the MD started a monthly newsletter last year.

And NOW…  Coffee with Council

The MD council is inviting their MD ratepayers to join them in the Brownlee Building on March 5^th from 1 to 5 pm to meet with council members and discuss what’s on your mind.

Curious about what’s happening with the Daycare? Want to know how the MD is addressing the housing crisis? Interested in learning about our spray program or grading program?

Come on down for coffee, snacks and an open conversation.

With Spring right around the corner, it will soon be time to start preparing the rural roads for dust control.

What does this entail? The MD of Spirit River will be applying Calcium as a dust suppressant, and to assist our ratepayers we have a 50/50 cost sharing program for those wishing to apply for our Dust Control Program. Please notify our office at (780) 864-3500 for dust control applications and/or concerns regarding dust control.

No applications of Calcium will be applied prior to payment in FULL. Applications will be received until May 10^th, 2025.

Our Agricultural Services Department is NOW HIRING! Apply for seasonal positions, including Agricultural Vegetation Management Technician’s and Roadside Mowing Technicians.

You are invited to participate in the Municipal District of Spirit River No.133’s

PHOTO CONTEST – FIRST PRIZE $200.00 – Runner up $100.00 –

Enter up to 10 photos per person!

To be eligible for the contest, all photos submitted must be taken within the

boundaries of the Municipal District of Spirit River No.133. Please give a description of where the photo was taken and when.

By entering and participating in the contest, you consent to the use of your photographs by the

MD of Spirit River, during or after the contest closing date, without compensation.

Photos may be submitted in either color or black and white. Each photo should be at least a 5 x 7 or larger & high resolution. Hard copies can be mailed to the MD of Spirit River No.133, Box 389, Spirit River, AB TOH 3G0. Digital copies may be emailed to: mdsr133@mdspiritriver.ab.ca. Don’t forget to include your name and contact information!

Photos MUST be submitted by October 16^th, 2025.

Winners will be selected by October 31^st, 2025.

The WINNING pictures and WINNERS names will be posted on our Facebook page and all WINNERS will be notified by phone or email.
