What’s Acceptable for Disposal at R360

MD of Spirit River #133 residents are authorized to dispose of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) – the collective term for non-hazardous everyday materials discarded by households, businesses, and institutions, commonly known as trash, garbage, or rubbish – at the 𝗥𝟯𝟲𝟬 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹, and are allotted 𝟬.𝟵 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 per residence/household, NOT per resident.

Recently, some residents have inquired about what is acceptable and what is not acceptable regarding waste disposal at the R360 Spirit River Landfill. Here is the response we received:

At the R360 Spirit River Landfill, we have a designated recycling area for batteries, tires, electronics, metal, and appliances. We also have a bin specifically for used burn barrels. For household waste, there are two throw‑and‑go bins, and empty seed bags can be placed in those bins.

Residents arriving with dump trailers of municipal solid waste (MSW) must offload their material by hand into the throw‑and‑go bins.

Direct dump trailer offloading inside our Industrial Class II landfill cell is not permitted. Allowing residents to enter the industrial landfill poses a significant safety risk, so this restriction is in place for their protection.

Dump trailers with MSW material that cannot be manually thrown into the throw & go bins are asked to divert to the Clairmont MSW landfill as they have a specific MSW landfill cell for direct offloading.

We are not able to accept farming waste.

Below is a list of materials that are NOT ALLOWED:

• Liquid waste
• Wet paint
• Biomedical/infectious waste
• Large dead animals
• Farm chemicals
• Pesticides
• Herbicides
• Fungicides
• Rodenticides
• Insecticides
• Fertilizers
• Expired or unknown farm chemical containers
• Bulk liquids or partially full jugs
