Offered in partnership with Northern Sunrise County, Community Futures Peace Country, and Sunstone Strategic, this program is designed to help local entrepreneurs, start-ups, and existing businesses that are facing barriers or looking to grow and diversify.

Congratulations to our Rural Farm Beautification Contest Winners!!

With only 12 weeks remaining until the 2025 Alberta Municipal Elections on October 20^th, the deadline for anyone wishing to throw their hat in the ring will be here before we know it.

The nomination period for the election began on January 1, 2025, and ends at 12:00 noon on Nomination Day, which is September 22, 2025.

Nominations must be filed using Form 4 – Nomination Paper and Candidate’s Acceptance and Form 5 – Candidate Information. These forms can be found @ www.alberta.ca/municipal-election-forms. You may also contact the MD’s office if you need assistance accessing the nomination forms or filling them out accurately.

Your nomination paper must be signed by at least five (5) voters eligible to vote in the election. The signatures collected must be from people who are residents in your municipality on the date of signing the nomination, and include the voter’s name, address (street address or legal description of residence), and signature.

On Friday, August 1st, the MD Transit Bus will be heading to Girouxville & Watino. Call the office at 780-864-3500 to save your spot on the bus!

Bus Fare: Age 16+ $25; Under 16 $5 due upon registration. Bus leaves the MD garage at 8:30am to pick-up passengers at designated locations and will be returning between 3:30 and 4:00pm.

Riders are responsible for all expenses over and above the bus fare.

You are invited to participate in the Municipal District of Spirit River No.133’s photo contest. Enter up to 10 photos per person!

FIRST PRIZE $200.00 – Runner up $100.00

To be eligible for the contest, all photos submitted must be taken within the boundaries of the MD of Spirit River. Please give a description of where the photo was taken and when.

By entering and participating in the contest, you consent to the use of your photographs by the MD of Spirit River, during or after the contest closing date, without compensation.

Photos may be submitted in either color or black and white. Each photo should be at least 5” x 7” or larger & high resolution. Hard copies can be mailed to the MD of Spirit River No.133, Box 389, Spirit River, AB TOH 3G0. Digital copies may be emailed to: mdsr133@mdspiritriver.ab.ca. Don’t forget to include your name and contact information!

Photos MUST be submitted by October 16^th, 2025.

Winners will be selected by October 31^st, 2025.

The winning pictures and winners’ names will be posted on our Facebook page and all winners will be notified by phone or email.
